The meaning of the
symbols in St. Paul’s School Crest
Christ and the Crucifix
This symbol is the
largest and central symbol on the crest. It represents
Christ as the centre of the life of our community of St.
Paul’s. It recognises that we are centred on the person of
Jesus and grounded in the Scriptures, in the teachings,
traditions of faith and prayer in the Catholic Church and
the witness of its past and present saints and scholars.
Flowing Water
This represents the
waters of Baptism and the waters of the Hunter River giving
life and nurturing growth.
Open Book
This represents the
Word of God found in the Bible and our school’s aspiration
to reflect the Gospel values of justice, truth, peace,
forgiveness, love, reconciliation and the service to
others. It also represents our aspiration to develop a
challenging, authentic and inclusive educational environment
that encourages lifelong learning.
Mercy Symbol
This is
the symbol of the Singleton Sisters of Mercy who established
and founded St. Paul’s school.
Boat
This represents the
journeys of St. Paul as he spread the Good News and links
with the role of the school as part of the evangelising
mission of the Church.
Our School Vision
We 'Stand Firm in Faith' by
living the Gospel and nurturing spirituality.
We strive to reach our
unique potential in an inclusive, compassionate, Catholic
community enlivened with hope and self-belief.
About St Paul's
St
Paul's School is located in the
Hunter Valley forty kilometres from
Newcastle.
The St Paul's school curriculum can
be truly described as
"child-centred" with a strong
emphasis on academic progress and
catering for the physical, social
and emotional needs of our students.
Our Key Learning Area curriculum
policies are designed to nurture the
individual gifts and talents of
students. Each class has a well
structured and comprehensive
Literacy programme. The overall
school curriculum allows for the
Education in Faith of students in
the Catholic Tradition. Within our
primary grades an active technology
integration program is being pursued
utilising multi-media authoring and
class based learning centres.
The
school community of St Paul's is
vibrant and dynamic with numerous
avenues for parents to be involved
in the day to day education of their
children, as well as through the
school P&F Association, Play Group,
Canteen, Classroom Reading Helpers,
sport helpers, school maintenance
team and library volunteers. Future
plans within our school will see a
beautification and landscape project
undertaken by our school parents and
friends
St.
Paul's Primary School places great
importance on developing positive
and responsive relationships between
home and school with the importance
of the school home relationship
reinforced through the assessment
and reporting structures, Pastoral
Care Processes and the general day
to day running of the school. St.
Paul's is very fortunate to have a
very caring and committed staff that
place great importance and value on
the needs of our students.
